IN A SWEEPING HISTORICAL SAGA that extends from the mud pits of France to the perilous Middle East, one small family embarks on an adventure of wonder and terror to fight evil and become legends.
Francois is the younger brother, an archer with lethal skill. A healer and lover at heart, Francois struggles to leave his lover in France to join the impending Seventh Crusade.
Artois is the older brother, a brute of a man. Simplistic and brave, Artois is widely revered and feared for his inhuman strength. In the turbulent days ahead, he protects his family at all costs.
The world of 1248 is fraught with danger. The Holy Land is under the dominion of the ruthless Ayyubid Muslims, the greatest military force in the world. They jealously control the fertile Middle East.
In a calculated military action, King Louis IX of France launches a massive invasion of Ayyubid Egypt. It is a mighty arrow launched at the Egypt's capital, Cairo, from across the Mediterranean Sea. If Louis succeeds in his quest, his nation will flourish for a thousand years and his name will be written in the history books forever.
"The Seventh Crusade" is a fantastic blend of history and fantasy that will hold readers captive as they travel through the Middle Ages with the Coquets. The reader will become one of the soldiers in this incredible piece of history; one that changed the world forever.

The Seventh Crusade The Crusades Book 4 edition by Mark Butler Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Fundamentalist historical fiction readers may have a hard time with this book. There are some supernatural elements that were not in the first three books in this series. Some dialog elements are also jarring. Even so, the plot is well spaced, the characters are not pure stereotypes, and there are sufficient twists to keep the reader's interest.
I found this to be a fascinating story that includes a well-researched view of a time in history that included wars, politics, and religions. The story is wrapped up in a view of peasant life, army life, family relationships, and it gave me insights to this period of the past. The story is intriguing and includes historical fiction along with fantasy and folklore! I felt as if I had joined King Louis IX on the Seventh Crusade as the engaging story came alive in this book.
For those that enjoy the historical genre mixed with a bit of fantasy this book is excellent. The story development is well thought out and details the brutality of life during the crusades. I would strongly recommended that anyone interested in history of Europe to read this book.
