A thought provoking story that will have your mind racing. The author has done a good job tackling a real life issue that a lot of woman are dealing with everyday. Abuse is a touchy subject and we wonder why they stay. Lynette is a smart hard working woman that has been warned and continues to put up with his abuse thinking he loves her. Can't wait for part 2
Lynette is a smart, goal-oriented woman. She's your cool, strong, silent type that doesn't follow the crowd. So I was VERY surprised when she found herself in an abusive situation. Maybe the author wanted to show us that it could happen to anyone, and it happens to strong vibrant women all the time. The very things that drew Shawn to Lynette became the very things that set him off. The more people are drawn to her, the more he wants to keep her to himself. She begins to be reprimanded for basic things (like going to the grocery store instead of coming straight home). And the whole time I'm reading this, I'm wondering why? Why is she staying? Why can't she smell the bologna coming out of his mouth? Why won't she see that he won't stop? There are domestic abuse victims who are completely dependent on their spouses and have children in the picture. But Lynette is financially independent and owns her own home; she doesn't have children with him; it's only been a few months. At the very least she had time to pull back some and request he go to counseling after the 1st or 2nd time he abused her.
One thing I did find unique was having the abuser's POV. Shawn really believed he could stop taking out his temper on her. He thought he could surpress the rage and dismiss his insecurities. He believes he wants the best for her. As the story progresses his train of thoughts become more and more desperate until...you get hit with the "to be continued".
wow Shawn was the worst he had more than a temper problem.Poor lynette she didn't deserve none of that I wish she listen to her father and king.i know it may be wrong to say but I hope she ends up with king he seems like the real cool one. I usually not a fan of books that about abuse but you have may me change my mind on that.i love your writing style. i pray she finds the strength to leave him in pt2
The book was okay, the other comments really hyped it up. It went entirely too fast, it took maybe an hour to finish. As soon as it started it was over. Honestly I wasn't really impressed and probably won't read book 2.
Wow... This book right here... Iy is such a good read...This book flows very well and captured my attention from the beginning and just kept pulling me in further and further until I was hit with a "to be continued"... It had me all in my feelings mad and yelling at Lynette.. Like really girl... Then I wanted to just smack Shawn up so bad... ugh... I wasn't to sure about Shawn in the beginning.. Then he was acting to weird and I could not quit figure him out but i Just knew something was off about him... Then slowly his true colors started coming out... However, I do not think we have seen the worst of him yet... I felt sorry for Lynette then again I was like how can she be so smart and yet so dumb at the same time... Everything she is going through she should know about. .. She should be able to notice all of this from being a nurse yet she just keeps ignoring it... Now she has also had many warning signs that she just keeps looking past and also a stern warning from her father... Yet she is still caught up... and did not take heed to any of these warnings... Now after Shawn just did what he did I hope she finally wakes up and leaves this toxic relationship... She really needs help and hopefully Shawn's brother King can help her... Now I really can't wait to read part 2...

Lynette you need to heed the warning signs and run like the wind. That is not love , and you don't deserve that.
